Pangea is a platform that connects students and recent grads to freelance jobs designed for busy college schedules. With users from over 1500 campuses, we serve a diverse network of talented, ambitious, and conscientious students looking to get a head start in the labor market of tomorrow.
While many clients are looking for current college students and recent grads, anyone looking for entry level opportunities can create a freelancer account on Pangea.
Freelance work is performed by independent contractors who possess specialized sets of skills. While there will be deadlines and expectations, this type of work is done on the freelancers own time and the opposite party is considered more of a client than an employer.
There are two ways to get discovered on Pangea:
Navigate to the Jobs feed (the briefcase). Here you will be able to browse jobs by category. You may also use the search bar to find jobs requiring specific skills, or filter the results by time commitment and compensation. Once you’ve found jobs that align with your skillset and interests, click apply and follow the prompts on your screen.
Working by the hour on Pangea means you’ll be invoicing for the amount of time worked for your client throughout the week. Per deliverable compensation means you will be paid a flat rate for a specific creation or project (i.e. $50 per blog post), regardless of how long it takes.
Your cover letter is the place to convey your interest and excitement for the role. It’s best to keep your cover letter short and to the point, around 3-5 sentences.
Your cover letter should include the following elements:
After signing-up, you should make a profile and start applying to open contract roles.
Pangean status represents how much a freelancer has worked through the Pangea platform. This status is calculated based on overall platform earnings, and our payment system rewards you as you level up, so the more you earn the more you get to keep.
Every Pangean starts their journey at Bronze status (less than $1,000 earned = 20% fee), and has the opportunity to level up to Silver (over $1,000 earned = 15% fee), Gold (over $2,500 earned = 10% fee), & Diamond (over $5,000 earned = 5%fee).
Once you achieve a new status level you will have that status for life or till your next upgrade and your status fee structure will be carried over across all of your current contracts and future contracts.
An additional status level is Pangea Pro. Pangea Pro is application based program for experienced freelancers, and if selected to be a Pangea Pro you’ll get fast tracked to diamond status (instant 5% fee on all contracts).

Stripe is a worldwide payment processing company, facilitating over $350 Billion dollars of transactions every year for thousands of companies (including Lyft, Instacart, and Kickstarter). Pangea uses Stripe to process all the transactions on our platform to keep your finance information secure and issue 1099s at the end of the year.
Payments on Pangea are handled by our partner Stripe. Once you’ve created your first contract, you will be guided through the process to create an account on Stripe. This process will ask you for a bank account, a mailing address, and a tax identification number. If you are an international student, please contact your school’s career center with any questions.
Currently, Pangea supports contracts with freelancers in the United States of America, Canada, and the United Kingdom.
Pangea.app is completely free to use. To keep our service running, we charge freelancers a platform fee from every invoice and their clients a service fee for every transaction. The platform fee starts at 20% and decreases all the way to 5% as you upgrade your Pangean status the more you earn on the platform.
A 1099-MISC form is required by the IRS for any freelance job totaling more than $600. Pangea generates a 1099 for every job you earn over $600 over the course of a year. As a rule, Pangea does not offer tax advice. There should be members of your school’s career services office that can assist you with any questions. You should only listen to tax advice from a licensed tax professional.

Pangea is a platform that makes it easy to find, hire, and work with freelancers who are either recent grads or college students.
Pangea is for forward thinking companies who want to work with primarily Gen Z talent to help them grow in the immediate while building relationships with potential future employees.
Freelance work is completed by independent professionals who complete projects that can enable your company.
To hire talent on Pangea, first post a job (it’s free!). Once you post, freelancers will apply to your job and you will receive their portfolios as well as a cover letter.
From the job post manager you can select the applicant you like the most and click on the 'Create Offer' button to draft and send an offer. Taking an engagement off-platform is a violation of our policy.
Posting a job on Pangea is free and you can do it after getting set up with an account. When you post a job you’ll specify the scope, expectations, and and initial screening questions you want applicants to answer.
A good job post will make applicant excited to work with your team and give a clear understanding of what you need help with.
A pending job post, is a job post that has been submitted for approval but has not yet been made accessible to the talent pool.
Job posts typically get approved within 24 hours and you will be notified via email.
If your job post gets declined, someone from our team will reach out to suggest ways to enhance your job post.
Once your Pangean has submitted an invoice, it will appear as an outstanding balance on their Contract card. Navigate to their contract and select the Payments tab. Identify the relevant invoice and click on the Pay button to the right. This will redirect you to the payment screen.
When you pay your invoices though Pangea you will be debited immediately and the funds will be transferred directly to your freelancer. At the end of the year, Pangea will file a 1099 for them so you won’t have to.
To assign a task, first navigate to the Contracts screen of the Dashboard, then scroll to the correct Pangean. Then select the Tasks tab and click the button at the bottom; it should read either 'Give your Pangean a task' or 'Add Task' depending on how recently you’ve created the contract. Clicking this button will bring up a form asking you to describe the task in detail.
Tasks can be given a due date as well as a compensation amount,
As long as there are no outstanding invoices you can end a contract at any time by going to the contracts page and the 'terms' section of the contract card with the freelancer you’re looking to end your engagement with. At the bottom of the terms page of the contract card you will be a 'end contract' button on the right hand side.
The first thing you should do is provide them direct feedback and clarify your expectations. If they don’t incorporate your feedback, get in touch with our team at support@pangea.app so we can provide personalized assistance.
Steps to edit your company profile:
Most Pangeans will view your personal and company profiles before applying, so taking the time to populate your profile sections will go a long way.
You can invite team members to your company account from your company profile page. On the right hand side, you’ll a team members card with a pencil icon, and if you select that, you’ll be able to enter the email address of the team member you’d like to invite to Pangea.
Team members can also sign up on their own without being invited via email. When they create a business account, we’ll ask them to enter their company’s name. If the company already exists in our database, they can select that company to join. If a new client joins an existing company, they will not be able to take any actions on the company’s behalf until they are approved by the company admin (admin is first user from the company that created a Pangea account).
Assuming your team members have already joined your company on Pangea, you can add them to an active job post from your 'jobs' tab. Simply click on the 3 dots on the job and click 'invite coworkers'.
